Freedom of speech, freedom of affiliation and many other individual rights enable people to collect, discuss, criticise and hold to account their governments, from which the idea of a deliberative democracy is formed. The more people are concerned with, involved by and capable of changing how political energy is exercised over their lives, the extra acceptable and legitimate the law becomes to the individuals.
